Morgan Elementary Magnet School
We moved to Galveston and didn't research the schools enough.  My son is enrolled in the 2nd grade at L A Morgan and we have been displeased with his experience.  He is the subject of much bullying due to, in large part, his minority status.  The pupils are very rough natured and the teacher has absolutly no control over the class.  The curriculum is "dumbed down" compaired to the school in the more affluent neighborhood in League City we moved from.  I will say there is one teacher in particular, Mr. Brown, who is inspirational and a good role model for the students.  He tends to the outdoor science lab and also helps keep the peace at lunch.  The principal, Mrs. Joseph is a very kind and attentive woman.  We've always felt welcome in her office to discuss concerns and we feel immediate action is taken when needed.  Unfortunantly, there's only so much one can do with the lack of funding, burnt out teachers and out of control children.
