Taylor High School Reviews

By a Parent on

My child is a shy very quiet teenager who has never gotten involved with much of anything on school campuses. The principal at this school has made it his personal business to meet with students and brainstroem with them activities they may have an interest in and then he encourages them and has set up mentoring for them to get them more involved. Within the school there is an AVID program in which my child has learned to be more open and they prepare students to adjust to life both in school and out as well as preparing them to enter college with speaking/social skills. They also prepare them for the rigorous courses they will incur once in college. The school has also set up a PTAG (Parent Teacher Action Group) to get parents more involved with their child's education program as well as to help around the school as mentors and class helpers. Through other activities the school has involved my daughter in, she has become both more open to trying new things as well as breaking away from her shyness. She has since joined student council and Ladies of Elegance (community service based organization) through the encouragement of both teachers and the principal. The school has set up these organizations to involve more students in their own personal and academic growth.  The number of organizations that students can now explore without feeling out of place, bullied, or inadequate in has doubled since she started and she is much happier and open now.
