Jasper High School Reviews
Jasper High School is large public high school for 9th and 10th grade in the Plano Independent School District in Texas. Many families move into the area just so their children can attend this highly competitive school. Graduating in the top 10% means automatic acceptance to many of the public universities in Texas. The problem with this school though, is that even with a 4.0 you don't have a chance of being anywhere near the top 10%. In order to get into the top 10%, you can't be involved in a sport or anything that isn't a honors or course because it brings down your G.P.A. My daughter's 4.08 wasn't nearly enough to put her in the top 10%. If she had been in another school, she would have been on top. The good news though, she is well prepared for college and scored so high on her ACT and SAT tests that she has many scholarship opportunities. It's a trade off, and in the end, she has been challenged and this will help her in the long run.
Excellent curriculum. Great English, Foreign Language, Science, Math and History Teachers. Front office staff is friendly and professional. Drill Team overated and expensive with mandatory meetings that provide information better suited if information was delivered by packet or email. Excellent Band and Choir. Drop off lines long before and after school. Nice Cafeteria and Janitorial staff. Counselors easy to speak with and excellent club/organizations to choose from for students.
This school is very challenging. Some of the teachers teach more like college professors than high school teachers. The only opportunity for help with school work is usually in morning tutorials and you still don't get much help there.
