Cora Thomas Elementary School Reviews
How can LCISD be proud of this school?
Coming into the area 3 years ago, we had high hopes of LCISD. We had heard so many great things about the district, their long term goals and the teachers. At this point, we are very disappointed in our experience at Cora Thomas. First and foremost, the lack of communication from school to home unacceptable. Teachers often complain that there is not enough parent involvement, yet at this school, when you try to be involved, you are quickly shut down. The receptionist is not very welcoming nor are the teachers or administration. When you have parents and grandparents who wish to be involved in their child's learning experience, you should put forth the effort to encourage it, not dismiss it as a problem. My students struggles began in first grade and after asking for tutorials, extra work to be sent home, lists of tutors for the district, etc, we got nothing. When you have a student who is with you ALL day and they have C's and D's in first and second grade, yet you don't send anything home for them to work on, that seems to be a real problem. Oh wait, according to the counselor and reading recovery teacher, that's "average" for their school. So it's OK? REALLY LCISD???
In my opinion, Thomas elementary is a great school to send ur kids to. Teachers respect kids and staff is helpful. My son is learning quickly and loves going to school.
I think that the above message is 100% correct. I have had issues with this school for quite some time. If you could send your child to another school I would. This school will only lower your childs self-esteem.
I think this school is great. The staff is more than willing to work with you. Yes, some of the teachers are new, but they are learning fast. I have a child who has behavior issues and they have made every effort to help her adjust. Including TLC. Now the PTO....that's an area that needs help!!
I think the school caters to a certain race. When they have a problem with your child they constantly look for reason to stay on them and when it comes to interacting with parents they are always to busy. They want even let you check up on your child just to see how their doing in school. I cant wait to find another school for my children
I think and see that every staff member are working very hard to make this the best elementary school in the area. Thank you.
the school is new but your littles will grow up way to fast. the stories they come home with and what others say or do, is harsh to hear from your own child.
