Don Whitt Elementary School Reviews
Our child has attended Whitt Elementary since its opening in 2008. Our experience has been great. Dr. Slaten is an experienced and concerned principal that understands children and believes in taking the action needed to empower them to learn. He is very approachable. He works in leading his staff toward the best ends in educating our children. Having other older children involved in public school; we are so grateful for this experience. We appreciate the family value based heartbeat of the teachers and their committment to preparing children for the future.
Whitt Elementary is a beautiful campus and does have a few great teachers. However, the staff as a whole is a disappointing group of uninspiring teachers whose level of genuine care for their students is greatly lacking. My recommendation is to carefully research the school and, more importantly, the teacher with whom your child would be placed. The school believes that no one teacher is better than another. Theoretically this sounds great, but in reality it could not be farther from the truth.
Last year was our first year to attend Don Whitt Elementary. My son thoroughly enjoyed kindergarten and is looking forward to 1st grade. I was the room mom for his class and found the PTA to be very organized making the room mom's job very easy. My daughter will attend kindergarten this fall. We are looking forward to another terrific year.
