Review Harmony Science Academy (San Antonio)
Recent Reviews
Unfortunately they decided to open a new school in San Antonio this year and we lost many, many wonderful teachers to the new school. Since then, the atmosphere has completely changed. Many of the teachers are rude, lethargic, unavailable to help and full of excuses. They are out of touch with parents and students and it seems as thought the school is falling apart.
What was once the best experience my children had ever had in the educational system has turned into a nightmare. I am very happy to say that we will soon be moving on.
HSA-SA.... 2010-2011 school year is their fall from from grace. HUGE numbers of students have been withdrawn from the school. If you are thinking about putting your child in school here, please talk to other parents and make an educated decision before you decide to place your children there.
The teachers are great and are always willing and able to help. This has been crucial for my son as he had a horrible Pre-K experience at another school.
It has been a great experience for us all. We look forward to the coming years. We can truly appreciate how our child learns and continues to learn through the various groups and programs offered.
HSA is a great school and has something to offer to everyone. Thank you HSA.-SA
My children love attending school there. I do not feel that they could be receiving a better education anywhere else. So glad we took a chance on this charter school
The diversity at school: social, economical, religious and cultural is wonderful! Children in this school prove that no matter where you come from, what religion you are or how much money you have, you deserve to be treated as an equal! It's a shame that everyone cannot be as respectful and kind as the children in this school.
HSA-SA is the best. Our entire family has learned s much during our time at the school and we are all better people (and students) because of HSA.
Mr. Aykac is our principal always makes time for parents when he is needed. Teachers are also always readily available.
Tutoring is offered at no cost for students struggling in class.
This school also strives to send a message to students making college seem like a natural transition after high school but is also supportive of the military families who attend HSA.
We are a prior military family and HSA-SA was our 5th school. I've never seen a school so dedicated to the well being of the students who attend as well as the community.
Pros: Dedicated staff, great goals and accomplishments
Cons: Not enough parent involvement

The TAKS is an annual test used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students are assessed in Grades 3 through 9 in reading, in Grades 4 and 7 in writing, and in Grades 10 and 11 in English language arts. Math skills are assessed in Grades 3 through 11, and students are assessed in Grades 5, 8, 10, and 11 in science, and in Grades 8, 10, and 11 in social studies.
How is it Scored?
Students receive one of two ratings: met standard or commended performance. The goal is for all students to meet the state standard. Students must pass the TAKS tests in grades 3, 5, and 8 in order to be promoted to the next grade, and in grade 11 in order to graduate from high school.
