Alta High School Reviews
Alta is a great school
This school is a very good school the classes are indeed large but that teaches students that they are part of a larger community and leads them to help each other out when questions arise. I personally was part of at least a dozen study groups all of wich were very helpful. And with the new high school the class sizes have deminished somewhat.
I think the parent who wrote about Alta being a great school for those students who are self-motivated and above average is right. My kids who have always struggled and need extra help, have not gotten the help they need. There are those four or five teachers and administrators who have been awsome, but I must say the mato "No Kids Left Behind" has been sadly, my kids experience.
Alta High School provides excellent opportunities for students. It has a variety of advanced classes and I can name many excellent teachers that have taught my children. There are some exceptions, but most teachers are quite good. My children have successfully taken a challenging academic program that includes many advanced classes.
The biggest drawback to Alta is that it is very large. My children have done well there, but they are self-motivated students. I hear that good students do well but mediocre students can get lost in the crowd. Alta could be split in two and both halves would be large schools.
Alta is a great school but I think the students would do better at smaller schools.
