Blacksburg High School Reviews
The school here has some wonderful programs, the only problem is that the highschool building itself collasped about a year ago. Because of this they moved the high schoolers into the middle school building and now ship the middle schoolers to Christiansburg to use an older school that had been empty prior.
The special education system has also gone down hill a bit. I have an Autistic son and have had a struggle to get the good care he deserves. Most of the time I would get excuses on suggestions and sometimes the IEP would not be followed like it should be.
If you were thinking about sending your child here, I would do much more research on the schools available in the area.
It is a good school, for the most part, unless you have a special needs child with Autism enrolled. We don't always see eye to eye on things and it's difficult to get anything done a lot of times.
The highschool itself was damaged so right now they are having school in the Middle School, which doesn't have as many rooms as the old one. The Middles Schoolers were sent somewhere else. Their classes are now limited, in the old one they had Vocational training, in this one not enough space for everything.
