PARENTS GET INVOLVED
Parents must first understand that teachers aren't the problem nor the solution. Your child's education starts at home, and ends at home.
It's our responsibility to seen a well nurtured, cloth, prepared, confident, and ready to learn child to school. How involved are you?
How often do you talk to your child about his/her day? How often do you help your child with homework? What is the priority when it comes to homework, cell phones, TV, playtime, meals, and preparing for the next day. Your child wants and needs to know you are there for them and you've got their back. Get involved, meet and talk to the teacher, staff even the principle before the problem. Make your presence know, I'm sure the staff will welcome it, your child will love it, even if he acts the opposite. Active parent produce positive active students.
Campostella made AYP 2009. Good job teachers! Teachers do send home notices of upcoming events, and hold open houses for parents who are concerned and want to see what their children's learning environment is like. Most of the parents of the children that Campostella serves take no active interest in their children's education. The teachers have every parent to contact while the parents have only one teacher to contact. Which takes the most effort. The parents give us erroneous contact information or no contact information i. e. cell phone numbers that do not work most of the time. When we call the numbers, it's either a neighbor's or grandparent's or friend's number who we cannot discuss the child's information with. All we can do most times is leave a message. I could go on but just venting a little.
I think that the teachers should try harder to contact the students parents about any upcomming projects or events . I myself am a parent and at times I don't even know if or when my child has any up comming events until the day after.
