Grace Preparatory School Reviews
Wonderful choice if homeschooling or public school isn't working
This school has many certified teachers who work as part time employees, but work 100% of their time. The satellite days are work days, some will be more challenging than others. It is growing and trying to separate itself from a home-school co-op.
The leadership is excellent and the tuition is minimal compared to other Private schools. The students do not attend the school building everyday, but each student has school work every day. Do not expect your child to only have 2 or 3 days of work. The administration clearly cares for each students academic and spiritual well being.
I always say it, but you will get what you out into it. This is a great school for hard working, intelligent students. Come check it out for yourself. Don't judge the building, it's a work in progress as it doesn't belong to Grace.
I am a parent, and I also have a master's degree in education and fifteen years teaching experience in public schools. This school is great. They are not about the money, that is ridiculous! Tuition is less than some mother's day out programs cost. The curriculum is almost identical to what I was using in a large award winning district in San Antonio, Texas. Also, this is a partnership. On homeschool days we can go to the greatest museums and historical sites in the nation, most of which are free. We can (and do) read great literature together, research on the computer, travel, or do any other activity to extend learning. We are living in the land of rich educational opportunities, which is part if the reason we moved to this area. My daughter had a great school in Texas, and this was a tough move, but this school has been warm and welcoming, and my daughter is very happy in this nurturing environment. The staff members are all professionals, and we get six electives including Spanish. Best of all, our family values are upheld here, and I don't have to worry about my kids watching porn on an iPhone on a school bus as recently happened in a very prestigious neighborhood in Texas, or have to spend hours and hours being quiet during endless standardized test prep.
Grace is the place to be! I attended Grace for several years and it really prepared me for a rigorous schedule after I left Grace. The teachers were extremely helpful and available on our satellite (home) days if we had questions or needed assistance. I loved the small class size and "family" atmosphere, where we could worship God freely.
My children have been attending Grace Prep for four years. They love the atmosphere which is both academic and nurturing. The people of this school community, from administrators to teachers to parents to students, really care about their school. Grace is a happy place where children grown and thrive in faith and academics!
I am a Grace Prep parent (since 2006 at the highschool level for 5 of our 8 children). My husband and I have also served for 2 years on the faculty and I have worked part-time in the office. I have seen many sides to Grace Prep.
The teachers are credentialed in their subject area which helps to assure me as a parent that every effort at quality education is happening. The children's standardized test scores positively reflected this expectation.
From the faculty/staff side of things I can assure you that the child's heart is the number one concern. Yes, Grace is a "business" and as such, must adhere to certain policies if it is to stay in business. But never, I repeat, never, does keeping the doors of Grace open take precedence over a child's heart.
Furthermore, every effort is made to engage the parents in partnering in the education. I truly feel that my children have gotten the "best of both worlds" - knowledgeable teachers who truly care about my child(ren) along with "traditional home education" via parental involvement.
The school accurately reflects its name: Grace - biblical integration with all classes, mid-week chapel, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and more. Preparatory - none of the three that have graduated had any difficulty doing college level work and the required biblical worldview class helped prepare them for the "real" world.
Reviews are limited. At some point you need to check it out for yourself. I know you will find a warm welcome and the desire to serve you in your educational goals.
This school is all about the money. Their main focus is getting your tuition. Unfortunately, the education is substandard at best. If you try to get your child out once you realize the education is not up to par, the school "board" will strong arm you into keeping them in. Very poor quality teachers. The administration and "board" are very unprofessional. Beware!
My children have attended Grace Prep School for four years and love it! The university model is perfect for our family as it allows us to stay very involved in our children's education. Their classes are rigorous, and working at home part of the time has helped our children to become self-sufficient students who have gained a great capacity to work hard.
We love the staff, teachers and families associated with this school. Grace Prep continues to grow in excellence each year. We are very pleased with the direction the school is heading and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.
Not impressed. My kids fell behind during their year here. The teachers are overwhelmed with just 8 kids in their class. Admin is not helpful. Avoid this school, now my kids will have to work twice as hard to catch up.
This school is run very poorly. It is frustrating for kids because assignments are not given to take home, or the wrong assignments are given, and then it is impossible to get the homeschool portion completed. I have many friends who have tried this school and left after a semester-that is why the school does not grow year after year. Very unprofessional administration. Would not recommend.
Great concept, poor execution.
