I've been impressed with the school which offers a second language every day to students in each and every grade. I was also pleased to discover that twice a year, the entire school goes out and performs community service projects and that they're a King County Green School with a student green team leading the way. The school has twice as many teachers per classroom as my son had in public school which means the kids get more individualized attention. They have music, art, sports, clubs, a great athletic center, after school activities and more.

Incredible school where everyone knows each student and they are able to address each child's specific needs/strengths. We love the strong focus on community service, social justice and environmental stewardship as well as critical thinking skills. So much better than public school where they are 'teaching to the test.'

As an alum, I can say that JDS was one of my most important stepping stones in my education, and now in my professional life. Looking back now, it's amazing to think that I spent half as much time as public school kids in our English/mandated classes, but when I got to high school I knew just as much if not more than all of them! My long-term and thorough exposure to religious studies and Hebrew gave me a uniquely less-conventionally-western perspective that opened me up to a lot of great life experiences. My teachers have been some of my favorite people and role models. Since JDS, I graduated from a top tier university and now work at Google in California.

JDS is the best Jewish day school in the region - it's not anything like the Jewish schools from when I was a kid. It offers sports, fantastic outdoor experiences, classroom technology including student laptops and they teach the kids to be thinkers and doers. Learning to be 'good people' is part of their curriculum plus it provides the second language in each and every grade to nourish a child's brain.
