Insight School of Washington

Brabara: I think this is a great alternative school. My dtr has severe social anxiety and was so uncomftable in the public school setting she couldnt focus or concentrate and was failing. She was about to give up and at first wasnt even trying with this school untill this year and she has done excellent. She only needs 3 more credits to graduate. The teachers are so nice and always respond and willing to help. I love how they give the students the option to be more social in the Illuminate classes and offer outside activities , even PROM for all grades. The 2012 PROM was awesome! Cant wait to see her graduate next year.

What is it?

The High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE) is an annual test used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards contained in the Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs).

Which Grades and Subjects?

Students in grades 10 are assessed in math, reading, science and writing.

How is it Scored?

A student's performance on the reading, math and science HSPE is reported using scale scores. Scale scores are three-digit numbers that are used to place the student into one of four levels: Advanced (Level 4), Proficient (Level 3), Basic (Level 2) and Below Basic (Level 1). The goal is for all students to meet or exceed standards (at or above Level 3).
