About This School

The French American School of Puget Sound offers a rigorous bilingual program in French & English from Young Pre-Kindergarten (age 3) to Grade 8. Our seamless blend of the French and American educational philosophies creates a multicultural context for learning that outlasts the four walls of the classroom and remains with each student for the rest of his or her life. FASPS students become bilingual, view the world from an international perspective, participate actively in a diverse school community, and enjoy the challenges of a stimulating academic program accredited by the French Ministry of Education, the State of Washington, and NWAIS. In addition, FASPS proudly offers a Middle School Program based on the highly respected IB Middle Years Program.

Today our students have access to over 23000 books in our multilingual library that includes books in French, English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese. They participate in a creative extra-curricular program with a wide spectrum of offerings, from iPad animation to yoga, and play competitively in athletic sports across the Seattle area. Because of their enhanced learning abilities, our students develop extremely advanced skills in all subjects, particularly math and science.

No French language experience is required in YPK, Pre-Kindergarten, or Kindergarten. FASPS is conveniently located just off I-90 in Mercer Island. Financial Aid available. Please contact Patricia Blaise-Caves, director of admissions at 206-275-3533 x 275 or for more information.

French American School Of Puget Sound Reviews

We have been attending FASPS since September.  My son is 4 years old and we do not speak French at home but we see the benefits of learning a second language.  He has really enjoyed learning French and the teachers are great.  They work with each child to reinforce concepts in French and in English and my son loves to share the songs and words he learns at school.  FASPS also has a great sense of community with the parents having the chance to help at the school with events like teacher appreciation luncheons.  I would highly recommend the school!

We love our school!

I couldn't have asked for a better school for my shy 4 year old girl. On daily basis my daughter is challenged academically and intellectually. She is so proud to tell me nearly every day how many new things she has learned at school. This was impressive given the fact that she is a highly capable child. One of my concerns on starting new school (in a foreign language) was my daughter's shyness and her emotional development. In less than a month, my daughter had nearly a full class of best friends. I remain amazed at how well the school administration does in selecting families -I haven't met one family who felt like they didn't fit in (especially those who've been here for at least a year). Everyone at the school is so accommodating and supportive, and I know I can count on this school providing the best education for my daughter that I can get here in Seattle. Despite the lengthy commute and exhausting days, it has all been worth it.

We would HIGHLY recommend the school! Our oldest started in pre-kindergarten and is now headed into the 3rd grade. Our middle child will start his second year there this fall. We have been extremely impressed with all of the teachers as well as the leadership from the head of school. The parent community is also very involved and welcoming!
