Well I Was At Cascade For 1 And A Half Years Moving Out Of The District In Febuary 2012. For Me Absolutely LOVED Cascade, The Reason Cascade Looks Like Such A Bad School Is The Bullying But When I Went To Cascade I Never Got Bullied, And If You Got That Much Bullied Where You Killed Yourself You Couldve Talked To Someone About It. The Girl Who Killed Herself I Knew Personaly And She Had ALOT Of Friends And There Were No Signs Of Anyone Bullying Her. And The Kid That Got Beat Up Brough It Up On Himself With A Rascist Insult To Another Kid. Cascade Isnt A Bad School Just The Kids Need To Get Their Act Together And Be Good Students.
I am having a difficult time finding anything good to say about a school where a young man is physically beat-up and bullied continually for over a year, and has to go to the hospital for his injuries (which were extensive enough for stitches). I then find out a young lady was bullied to the point of suicide, through mental abuse.
I understand she did not report the bullying and the boy did report his bullying. Two instances tells me there is more and some of the staff was aware.
Folks, you have got to be pro-active in today's educational climate in reference to the prevention of bullying. There is something wrong with the climate of either, children not reporting abuse (for whatever the reason), which most often it is the climate of apathy with certain staff. The children feel nothing gets done anyway if they report the bullying, or the fear of retribution from their attackers, because nothing is getting accomplished to discipline the attackers.
Whatever the case may be, (usually it is both) Cascade Middle School and it's staff, at a good 17 to 1 teacher to student ratio needs to be communicating with students through teachers having responsibility for a certain number of children and their educational attainment and the environment in which they learn. Assigning teachers to have a certain number of children, where they have individual progress reports to be filled out on a weekly basis to have student/teacher interpersonal communication and this results in accountability, as well as improved academic achievement. Attaching teachers/staff to a set number of specific students and having interaction between them twice a week. It ends up being a win/win situation for student achievement and student accountability for all.
It is a sad day.
My daughter is in the 7th grade and through the trials and tribulations the staff at Cascade has always been very supportive. The curriculum is outstanding and they strive for excellence. Providing each child with the tools necessary to be successful and reach their academic goals.
