About the WESTEST
What is it?
The West Virginia Educational Standards Test (WESTEST) are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students are assessed in reading, science and math in grades 3 through 8 and 10. In grades 3 through 8 students are assessed in social studies.
How is it Scored?
Students are scored at five levels: distinguished, above mastery, mastery, partial mastery and novice. The goal is for students to score at either the mastery, above mastery, or distinguished level.
