St Laurence School Reviews
My son received great reading preparation in K at St. Laurence. Only one child in his class came in as a reader. Our child's reading took off in 1st grade, and he continues to excell in that area. There was no expectation that he be a reader already in K.
This school is OK but in need of many improvements. Most of the staff are friendly and kind with the children. The very early grades (preK-K) are in need of improvement. 80% of boys are automatically held back in PreK and there is a strong prejudice against allowing younger children in the K classroom. It is preferred for K children to be reading before beginning the first day. Older grades seem to be acceptable and the atomosphere is a bit safer than general public school.
St. Laurence is a very small school with lots of individualized attention. The staff is friendly and the children feel safe and appreciated. Parents are always welcome and many volunteer. The curriculum seems average with the exception of religious education which they take seriously yet teach lovingly. The delivery of curriculum is excellent and due to small class sizes individual learning needs are taken into consideration.
