To complete this task, it will be important to organize made-up elements to simulate Mendeleev when he made the periodic table of elements.

Research Questions:

  • Is it possible to predict missing elements in the periodic table?
  • In your periodic table, did you organize your elements in a way that everyone can understand it? Why or why not?
  • Do you think that Mendeleev’s way of organizing the periodic table was rational?


Materials:

  • 9 flash cards

Experimental Procedure:

  1. Write the properties of all the elements onto the flashcards in an organized fashion so that anyone could understand.
  2. Organize the elements is a rational way that can be understood by anyone, and is based on one or more properties.
  3. Once done, record your periodic table.
