Students classified with emotional disturbance must meet specific criteria for an extended time. Their school performance may be hindered by: inappropriate behaviors, inability to keep or build relationships with peers and teachers, a pervasive mood of unhappiness, and a tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears related to personal or school problems.
