Children need to know boundaries and understand that actions come with consequences. If rules are inconsistently carried out, kids start to lose respect for parental authority. Build up your child's trust by making sure your actions match your words. Choose non-threatening consequences you can consistently support. Enforce simple rules with consequences that fit the behavior.
