Disadvantage #1: Teachers Can Stereotype Students Based on the Label
Classifying a student with a particular label can cause a teacher to mistakenly think that all traits relevant to the label apply to their student. School officials need to understand that categories are abstract classifications that are not the be all and end all of the student's abilities.
