Measures of Weight
Weight is measured in ounces, pounds, and tons. Use the conversion factors in Table 10.2 and follow the rules stated in the Basic Concepts.

Examples
Example 1
Change 9 pounds to ounces.
Solution 1
9 lb × 16 oz = 144 oz
Example 2
Change 11,000 pounds to tons.
Solution 2
11,000 ÷ 2000 = 5.5 T
Example 3
Change 2 tons to ounces.
Solution 3

Example 4
Change 14 pounds 3 ounces to ounces.
Solution 4
14 lb × 16 oz = 224 oz
224 oz + 3 oz = 227 oz
Example 5
Change 70 ounces to pounds and write the remainder in ounces.
Solution 5

Hence, the answer is 4 lb 6 oz.
