The Basics of Quadrilaterals Practice Questions
Practice
1. Identify all the names that describe this quadrilateral.

2. Find the value of x in this parallelogram.

Solutions
-
Parallelogram; opposite sides are equal.
Rectangle; it has four right angles.
Rhombus; all sides are congruent.
Square; the sides are congruent and the angles are all 90 degrees.
- The opposite angles are equal. Because angle H is 120 degrees, angle K must also be 120 degrees. There are 360 degrees in any quadrilateral, so the other angles (G and J) must add up to 360 –120 (angle K) –120 (angle H):
360 –120 –120 = 120
Angles G and J are equal, so to find x, divide 120 by 2: x = 60 degrees.
