According to the DSM-IV-TR, the diagnosis for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) must include symptoms of inattentive and hyperactivity-impulsivity. Children must possess these symptoms for more than six months. Some inattentive symptoms include has trouble keeping attention on tasks and often does not seem to listen when spoken to directly. Some hyperactivity symptoms include runs about or climbs when and where it is not appropriate and fidgets with hands or feet or squirms in seat.
