It is not uncommon for children and adolescents to experience shyness and hesitance around people and social situations they are unfamiliar with. Approximately 13 percent of children ages 9-17 suffer from severe fears and shyness that they qualify for an anxiety disorder diagnosis. Better understanding of shyness, fears, and anxiety can help your child to more easily navigate their social world in childhood and for years to come.
