Auditory processing disorder or receptive language disorder describes children whose brain has an abnormal way of processing information and sound they hear from their surroundings. The cause of this disorder is unknown but it may be associated with conditions such as dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, autism spectrum disorder, specific language impairment and pervasive developmental disorder.
