Parenting and Mental Retardation

Parenting and Mental Retardation
Parenting a child with mental retardation can be physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging. You constantly have to be on the lookout for their self-injurious and dangerous behaviors. You have to be very involved in their academic life to make sure that they are getting an appropriate education. Because children with mental retardation regulate their moods and emotions poorly, parents often go through an emotional roller coaster.
