Beginning Blends 3

(based on 1 rating)
Publisher: Education.com
Topics: First Grade, Phonics, Spelling

Each picture on this worksheet is missing the first three letters of its name – letters that function together as a consonant blend. Kids choose the correct blend from the boxes and write it to complete the word. Recognizing and using consonant blends helps kids achieve fluent oral and silent reading, and can also have a positive impact on their spelling skills.

How did the word "squirrel" became beginning 3 consonant blends? "sq" are both consonants as we know, and "u" is a vowel. Where is the beginning 3 blends?

I had the same thought! Probably because the "squ" like in squirrel actually sounds like "sqw," which would be three consonants- what do you think?

I still like this worksheet- I've had big trouble finding activities on 3-letter blends and this gives great examples!
