A funny man once said that he had a map of the United States, and it was actual size. Obviously, an actual size map couldn't exist. But how do mapmakers decide exactly how big to make a map? They use a scale, and they can use different scales depending on what their map depicts. In this worksheet, your child must think about what scale would work best for different types of maps.
