Using PEMDAS

PEMDAS, which sometimes takes the form of “please excuse my dear Aunt Sally,” is an excellent mnemonic that helps kids remember the order of operations:

  • P – solve any expressions found within parentheses.
  • E – exponents.
  • M – multiply.
  • D – divide.
  • A – add.
  • S – subtract.
