Phonics Practice

Learning phonics can be a team effort! There are many ways to reinforce phonics concepts while accommodating different learning styles. Providing dynamic opportunities for practicing phonics is crucial for early readers. These foundational skills will follow them as they build their list of known sight words and start down the path of reading fluency. Here are some supplemental activities and ideas for learning phonics:

  • When reading aloud to your child, encourage her to follow along with the print.
  • Write out a known word as you and your child say the word slowly in unison.
  • Write down a series of words on a page, including your child's name. Then ask her to point to her own name.
