Strong emotions like anger can sometimes take over, but mindfulness tools can help to manage them. In this lesson, students will learn mindfulness techniques for managing anger and write and implement a lesson to teach a younger student.

Mindfulness of Anger

Mindfulness 101! Students focus on the present moment using their senses to observe what is happening right now. They are introduced to the idea that mindfulness is about paying attention to the present.

 In this lesson, students will move through stations to practice and reflect on the mindfulness and social emotional learning tools that they have learned throughout the year. 

Mindfulness, Community, and Nature Stations

When we practice mindfulness we are better able to regulate our emotions, build compassion, and support greater ease. In this social emotional learning lesson plan, students will practice mindfulness and create a video that teaches others about mindfulness.

Students Lead

Students will hear about the benefits of mindfulness from JusTme's rap song, "I'm Inspired", practice mindfulness and the STOP tool, and then write raps of their own, encouraging others to practice mindfulness and the STOP method.

In this lesson, students will explore how to use mindfulness to reflect on, label, and express emotions. They will each help design a page for their classroom book on mindfulness of emotions, including tools to cope with strong emotions.

Mindfulness, healthy eating, and regular exercise are all tools for resilience. In this lesson, students will learn about tools that can help them to build greater resilience and ease in their lives.

In this lesson, students will participate in a freeze dance, then be guided in slow-motion movements using mindfulness. Finally, they will discuss how movement and music can help them feel calm or energized.

In this lesson, students will express their love for someone they deeply care for. They will complete a guided mindfulness practice to send kind wishes and will make a craft that represents their love for this person.

What Do You Love About Them?

In this lesson, students will listen to, discuss, and understand two perspectives on a difficult situation. They will flip a coin, with each side representing one side of the story, and role-play the perspectives and reach a resolution.

In this lesson students will be guided through a session of reflecting on their day and their emotions. They will also practice ways they can welcome and befriend their emotions with kindness and curiosity.

The Peace Corner is a space where students may practice cool-down methods such as mindful walking, deep breathing, and mindful listening. Students will work together in groups to create activities for their classroom peace corner.

Unlike moving quickly, mindful movement is a wonderful way to slow down and bring kind attention to the present moment. In this lesson, students will experience mindful movement and will create a movie on the benefits of mindful movement.
