Fun with Creative Writing
Evaluating Student Writing
The next time you're at the store with your child, have them select a fun notebook to take home. Make this their creative writing notebook, in which they can write personal thoughts, fictional stories, or anything they'd like. Encourage them to spend 10 minutes per day writing something in the notebook. If they are stumped on what to write, offer a prompt or a topic.
It's great to do a prewrite at the very beginning of the year. Give your students a fun prompt or have them write about whatever they like! They can continue their writing each day. It's a great way to see what they can do on their own.
