For a quick exercise, make a list of words with your child that contain the long O. See if your child can find different long O spelling patterns, such as o_e, oe and oa.
Have students brainstorm words that have the long O sound and record their answers. Point out the different long O spelling patterns (such as "oa," "o_e," and "oe"). Invite students come up and underline or highlight those spelling patterns in each word.
