Week 20

## Diphthong: Ou

Brainstorm a list of words that are spelled with the vowel team "ou." Point out the different sounds the vowel team can make. It can make the short O sound as in "bought" or the ow sound as in "couch."
Have students think about words that include the vowel team "ou" in them and record them on sticky notes. Then, have students sort the words by the different sounds the vowel team can make: either the short o sound as in "bought" or the ow sound as in "couch."
