Tricky Words: Homophones & Homographs
Tricky Words: Homophones & Homographs
Homophones and homographs can be really tricky for kids! Help your child learn the difference between these types of words to build a better understanding of word meaning and word relationships. Homophones are words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings, like brake and break. Homographs, on the other hand, are spelled the same and are sometimes pronounced the same, but have different meanings, like wind and wind. For fun, see how many words you and your child can think of and make two different lists!

Homophones are words that sound the same, but have different spellings and meanings, such as break and brake. Homographs are words that are spelled the same and are sometimes pronounced the same, but have different meanings, such as wind and wind.
