Inflectional Word Endings: - ing
Inflectional Word Endings: - ing
Inflectional word endings are letters or sets of letters added to the end of words to change their meaning. For example, adding an "s" to the end of a word can make it plural.
As a class, brainstorm different endings that can go with a particular root word. Write the root word, the ending, and then the combination. Students can highlight the inflectional ending in one color and the root word in another to help them identify if the root word changes when adding an "ing."
