Continue with phonics and word study by focusing on the "aw" diphthong this week. Invite students to brainstorm as many words as they can with "aw" in them. Then, compile a master list to read aloud as a class!

Introduce time at home by talking to your child about what time they do different activities, such as dinner time or bedtime. Be sure to reflect on about how long each activity takes.
When teaching time to the hour and half hour, show students how the clock can be divided in half. The entire clock face is the whole, and it takes 60 minutes for the minute hand to complete a full rotation. It takes 30 minutes for the minute hand to rotate halfway around the clock face.

As students read nonfiction books, make sure they are talking about what they are learning with a partner. Tell students to keep track of five facts on their fingers as they read that they want to remember to share with their partner.
