Author's Point of View

Author's Point of View

Introduce the concept of first-, second-, and third-person point of view by practicing it out loud. Ask your child to tell you a story using each of the three voices. They can then do this with familiar works of literature to identify an author's point of view and purpose. Another idea is to offer your child a passage and ask them to convert the author's voice from first to third person, or vice versa. How does the perspective shift when the voice changes?
