Primary sources, such as manuscripts and video recordings, can provide an interesting lens into a particular time and place. They can give information that eliminates some of the author's point of view and gets to the bare-bone facts. This week, help your child understand ideas in the United States Constitution by looking at excerpts of the Constitution. Older documents and manuscripts can be hard to understand, so make sure to talk to your child about what the documents say and mean using graphic organizers and comprehension questions.

Challenge your child to combine the essay and story into a cohesive hybrid writing piece.
