Prefixes

Prefixes

Remember that prefixes always come at the beginning of a word. Examples of common prefixes include: pre, un, and dis.
Have students create a chart of different suffixes and prefixes in the English language. If they see or hear words with these suffixes or prefixes throughout the day, have the students add them to the chart.

Comparing Expressions

Modeling multiplication with pictures and charts can be helpful for some kids. If a child is struggling with a problem, try using a drawing to show them how to solve it.
Teaching students multiple multiplication strategies can help build their conceptual understanding. Many students don't understand why the standard algorithm works, so area models and partial products can help with getting to know the multiplication process.
