Making Inferences

Making Inferences

An author does not tell the reader every little detail about a character or situation. Help your child make inferences by asking them information about the characters and story. Ask them how they figured out that information.
Good readers make inferences in all texts they read. Use a formula to teach your students to put what they know about the world together with what the text says. When they do this, they make an inference. Background Knowledge + Text Evidence = Inference.
