Education.com's 2010 Gift Guide Let's Shoppers "Wow" On A Budget

With over 50 gifts under $10, plus a “splurge” and reasonably priced treats for every grade, Education.com’s 2010 gift guide helps shoppers find high quality, educational, and fun kids’ gifts without over spending. 

REDWOOD CITY, CA – September 14, 2010  – Education.com, the go-to web destination for involved parents of school aged kids, today unveiled its 2010 Holiday Gift Guide. This one-stop shopping resource helps parents and other shoppers find fun, educational, unique, and well made gifts for all the children on their holiday lists – without breaking the bank. 

For each grade, Education.com’s 2010 Gift Guide includes 15 hand-picked items, five of which are priced under $10.   From a chalk board brief case to a kid sized croquet set, an Erector Empire State Building to a “freestyle mini luge,” this year’s guide is packed with fun and unique selections that work kids' brains and bodies. Some under $10 highlights include a working microscope, a quick to knit scarf kit, temporary tattoos that turn kids’ hands into instant puppets, and lots of great games.

Education.com Editor-in-Chief, Danielle Wood, explains the 2010 Gift Guide selection process: “We know families are still tightening their belts in the face of the economy - we’re all going to be watching our spending this holiday season. But we also know parents aren’t going to settle for giving junk to their kids. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we set out to find really well made, fun, and affordable gifts that kids would love, with a little learning snuck inside. We were extremely picky in choosing products for the guide - we brought in over a thousand products to review. If a product was highly educational but not really fun or if it was entertaining but didn’t contribute to the child’s physical, emotional, or cognitive development, it didn’t make the guide.”

 Unlike many other gift guides on the market, product manufacturers were not asked to pay a review fee to be considered for Education.com’s gift list. Gifts are chosen entirely on merit.
 “We think holiday shoppers are going to find our gift guide really refreshing,” notes Wood. “They’re going to find lots of surprises – things that seem like they should cost more than they do. The goal was to make it easy – select the grade of the kid you’re shopping for and you’ll find everything you need from stocking stuffers up to the ‘big gift.’ Most of all, this guide is about making kids light up when they open that package and giving them something they’ll still love long after the holidays are over.”
