Education.com Offers Parents Unique and Meaningful Ways to Celebrate Earth Day Every Day
Leading web destination for parents offers activities, crafts, eco-living tips, and a gift guide to help families go green, stay green, and help get their kids’ schools green.
REDWOOD CITY, CA – April 21, 2009
Education.com, a leading web destination for parents of school-aged children, has launched an Earth Day center for parents looking for fun and creative ways to celebrate Earth Day - and keep their families focused on being good stewards of the planet year-round.
“The notion of ‘being green’ can feel a little overwhelming to parents – especially right now when there are lots of other things to worry about”, says Education.com Editor-in-Chief Danielle Wood. “We created our Earth Day center to give parents a toolbox of fun and creative ways to celebrate Earth Day - and make environmentally friendly changes in their daily lives - without breaking the bank. From recycled crafts like a shoebox guitar, to charting where the food on your table comes from, there are projects and ideas for every grade level. We’ve included some pretty advanced projects for families who really want to go all out. But for those who don’t have the time to make drinking water out of salt water tomorrow, there are lots of ideas to help families celebrate Earth Day without investing an unfeasible amount of time or money.”
The Education.com Earth Day center includes articles to help parents learn what they can do with their children to live more environmentally-friendly lives. Many of the articles include actionable tips families can immediately and affordably implement (including six ways to pack greener lunchboxes, ten ways to green homes and families, and five things kids can do to help save our oceans). One of the most popular articles in the center is “Sustainable Savings: Eco-Parenting without the Payout” which gives parents tips on how they can make a big difference to the planet’s health on even the smallest budget.
The Earth Day center also includes a variety of environmental activities, recycling crafts, and nature crafts - organized by grade level - that families can do together to help celebrate Earth Day. And for families who have a little extra money in the budget for toy shopping this spring, the company has published its 2009 Green Gift Guide with toys reviewed by Education.com that are fun, safe, educational, and environmentally on point.
For families interested in extending their green influence, Education.com has created a green schools center which includes articles with advice on how families can help make their schools greener and a tool to help parents find U.S. Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Design) certified schools in their area.
