Around the School Yard, Multiplication Style

Take a break from the flash cards and try practicing multiplication facts with this fun board game! You will need two dice, a game board print-out, and place markers. It's a simple way to reach an important goal. Help your third grader gain more confidence working with his times tables as you race to make your way around the school yard in this exciting activity.

What You Need:

What You Do:

  1. Have each player select a place marker and place it on the picture of the school, in the center of the game board.
  2. Players take turns rolling the dice, then multiplying the numbers shown on the dice. If their product is shown in the next area of the school yard (The first area is the basketball court.), they may move their marker. If their product does not appear in that area, they stay where they are.
  3. A player wins when they have gone all the way around the school yard and reached the swingset.

Variations:

Use three dice. Multiple all three numbers together. Or use addition or subtraction instead.
