Play Concentration ... With a Twist!
Topics: Games, First Grade, Second Grade
Concoct your own game of Concentration—with a twist! This take on the classic game of Concentration is far more interesting than playing with regular old cards. Your child's own picture perfect face is used as the image that she matches up with its pair!
All it takes is a camera, a printer, and some photo paper to personalize her very own "deck of cards" for this matching game. Use photos of her performing different parts of her daily routine (brushing teeth, tying shoes, combing hair, etc.), or making different faces (sad, happy, angry, etc.) to make the cards. Your little one will love being the star of her very own game, while her memory, matching skills, and concentration (hence the name of the game!) will be improved along the way.
What You Need:
- Digital camera
- Photo paper or sturdy white printing paper
- Computer and printer, or photo printer
- Lamination sheets or contact paper (optional)
What You Do:
- Take pictures of your child performing parts of the daily routine, or making faces.
- Once you have about 12 pictures, save them onto the computer, and print two copies of each in full color.
- Allow the pictures to dry and then mix them up.
- Put them all face down and take turns with your child finding two matching pictures. If they find two that match, they get to take another turn.
- The winner is the player with the most pictures!
Variations:
If you are hosting a birthday party, you may want to try and get pictures of the kids before the party and include them in the game. The children will have a blast looking at pictures of them and their friends!
