Brainstorm a poetry topic with your child. Help him think outside the poetry box with crazy topics like monsters and ninjas or a musical space adventure.
What words go with your theme? Have your child to use vivid verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Monsters might be stomping and smashing while astronauts musicians will be singing and screeching their way through the stars. Encourage the silly possibilities!
Peel off the adhesive backing from the magnetic sheet
Place the colored paper on the sticky surface.
Cut the paper-covered magnetic sheets into strips. On the strips,
Write the words from your brainstorming list on the magnetic strips.
Use scissors to trim the magnetic strips to the exact size of each word.
Put all the magnetic words on your fridge.
Let your child move the poetry magnets around to create his poem.
Keep the finished product up to entertain the family before letting everyone else get their chance to make a zany poem!
