History in Action!

If your child loves knights and sword fighting then History in Action’s Medieval Castle is for you! Your child will love being able to stage an attack on a castle, while you’ll love the accurate medieval history in the story.

The box set includes a foldout castle, 3-D models, tons of press-out characters, and a short story about a ten-year-old page living in a castle. Sound like a lot? It is. There are press-out characters of practically everything, from crossbowmen to prisoners to a plowman. There are also 3-D models that can be used for staging a battle, from a battling ram to a siege tower.

The story’s nothing to write home about, but gives plenty of examples of settings and how people behaved during the time period for any scenario your imaginative child can come up with. And what child wouldn’t like the historically interesting details like, “The lower table guests eat off trenchers that soak up the juices from the food and are then thrown to the poor people or the dogs.”

But since everything is created out of cardboard, models may get bent, so don’t be surprised if the historical characters are replaced with plastic army men. No matter what imaginative army loses, you’ll win when your child’s using his imagination while he’s learning about history.
