Q:

Is 10 pages of addition math facts (timed in 60 second intervals) too much for a first grader

I am very concerned because it is stresses her out and I do not want her to be turned off by math

we are at a charter school and I feel like they do what ever they want.

If I don't make her do it they give her a homework VIOLATION . I think this is wrong because it's not her oversight that she is not up with the bulk of the class .

Hi Carla, How frustrating for you! &nbsp;Have you tried talking to her teacher about this? &nbsp;Maybe if you went in and explained why you're uncomfortable with the exercise you could work with the teacher to come up with an alternate assignment for her to do. &nbsp; My son is in kindergarten and had a similar situation (he had a recurring assignment that was boring for him). &nbsp; The teacher gave him a different assignment (that practices the same skills) and everyone's much happier. &nbsp; He's not whining, I don't feel bad for making him do something he doesn't want to do every day, and he's still getting the practice he needs. &nbsp;Hope that helps!<br />
