Is 10 pages of addition math facts (timed in 60 second intervals) too much for a first grader

I am very concerned because it is stresses her out and I do not want her to be turned off by math

we are at a charter school and I feel like they do what ever they want.

If I don't make her do it they give her a homework VIOLATION . I think this is wrong because it's not her oversight that she is not up with the bulk of the class .

Hi Carla, How frustrating for you!  Have you tried talking to her teacher about this?  Maybe if you went in and explained why you're uncomfortable with the exercise you could work with the teacher to come up with an alternate assignment for her to do.  My son is in kindergarten and had a similar situation (he had a recurring assignment that was boring for him).  The teacher gave him a different assignment (that practices the same skills) and everyone's much happier.  He's not whining, I don't feel bad for making him do something he doesn't want to do every day, and he's still getting the practice he needs.  Hope that helps!

They should have been tracking her and shouldhave told me sooner that she was falling behind.
