Spetialem asks:

My 12 yr old son floats from groups but has never had one best friend. He wonders why he doesn't have the same interest as other?

He's been in organized sports with a nice group of families. We even do annual team outings. This is the extent of his socializing with friends. He's not athletic and boys dont seek him out but he also doesn't seek them out. He just can't find anything in common with other boys. I try to encourage him but all the ideas I have his response is "no". How can I help him fit into middle school. He says teachers don't care he is learning nothing, kids are rude. When I talked to the school only one teacer out of 5 responded and states he's not the last one picked or pushed away when going into groups. But I've seen him playing frisbee by himself at PE. When I asked about it he said he wanted to be by himself. It seems like there might be teasing going on but the school says no. Any ideas?  He needs a friend.
