What the Expert Says:

Hello and thank you for writing to JustAsk!

I know this must be frustrating to have a child with learning challenges showing some teenage angst, too!  May I suggest that you talk with the school guidance counselor and special education team (including perhaps the school psychologist).  They most likely have behavior plans that can assist you.  Also, you may wish to call the area ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) to see if they have a counselor who may take your question or a parent volunteer who has shared a similar experience.

Their nationwide website is http://www.theARC.org

Best wishes!
